The Suspect - Michael Robotham This is the second book I've read by this author, and after reading the last one I was eager to seek out more of his books. This is the first book to feature psychologist Joseph O'Loughlin. This book follows the story of a young woman who has been found dead with multiple self-inflicted wounds. When it turns out Joe knew her, he ends up getting more involved with her case than he expected, as events spiral out of his control. At the same time he must battle his demons after his recent diagnosis of a life limiting health condition and the effect it has on his marriage. All of it adds up to the perfect combination for a gripping crime novel. The last quarter of the book is extremely fast paced as things start to come together, and as the mysteries are revealed you realise just what a web of interconnecting characters the author has created. A brilliant, gripping thriller.
