The Small Hand - Susan Hill I read this book in one morning, which wasn't hard given it was 200 pages and fairly large, spaced out print. I'd very much enjoyed The Woman in Black so looked forward to checking this out. Susan Hill has a brilliant writing style, particuarly when it comes to creating the right atmosphere, and in general her descriptions are beautiful. This book tells the story of Andy Snow, who comes upon an old abandoned house. He finds more than he expects there, and has experiences that will stay with him. It's avery chilling story, wonderfully written. I'd really recommend it.
