It took me a few chapters to get into the swing of this book, mainly because of the use of description, which at times felt like wading through unnecessary adjectives. But once I got used to the style of writing I started to really enjoy it. The book follows "Eve" as she embarks on her relationship with the mysterious Dom, and documents their time in their cottage in France, whilst flashing back to past stories of the previous residents of the house. The book paints a wonderful picture of France, a country I love, and so it was lovely to escape into. The story builds up suspense throughout, and as the many strange events started to be explained I was hooked. Deducting a star for the slow start and for problems I had with Dom's character, but a beautiful book all the same.
